You will be joining our thriving Occupational Therapy team at Westmead Hospital, which is where you'll experience a highly supportive department with a positive team culture. We are a department of approximately 50 clinicians with varied skillsets and knowledge working with acute and rehabilitation patients in inpatient, outpatient and community settings. We are a cohesive team ensuring clinicians at all levels are involved in department development and decision-making processes to better the department and services we provide for our patients. For example, all OTs are involved in department portfolios and quality projects.

Supervision is a priority within our department, and we will establish the appropriate supervisory supports you require to reach your personal and professional goals.

Professional development is strongly encouraged in the OT department both internally and externally to the organisation. Our well-established education portfolio offers a range of presentations/in-services throughout the year, tailored to meet the learning needs and interests of our clinicians.

About the role:

This is a temporary full-time Level 1/ Level 2 Occupational Therapist position within our department, working in RACE (Rapid Access to Care and Evaluation) as part of our community team. The role also offers future opportunities to rotate across a variety of clinical areas (including inpatient, acute and rehabilitation settings) based on our department’s rotational program and service demand.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualification: Degree or Diploma recognised by AAOT-NSW 

  • Registration: AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist 

Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated clinical experience (or clinical placement experience for new graduates) in an acute care and/or rehabilitation/community setting including experience in discharge planning, home assessment, home modifications and equipment prescription.

  2. Skills in planning, implementing, and evaluating intervention programmes.

  3. Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

  4. Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.

  5. Demonstrated effective time management and organisational skills.

  6. Commitment to ongoing education, professional development and quality improvement.

  7. Current drivers’ licence
