Job Description

Bundaberg Occupational Therapy is seeking an Experienced Occupational Therapist that is enthusiastic about working with children, to join an existing team of therapists. The position will be full time hours with 9-day fortnight but can be flexible hours depending on the candidate. Supervision, mentoring, and professional development is offered by experienced therapists.

Our client’s range in ages from babies through to high school students, presenting with a wide range of developmental delays and disabilities including attention deficit disorder, autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing difficulties, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, learning difficulties, handwriting difficulties, fine and gross motor co-ordination difficulties, intellectual disabilities, visual and hearing impairments, physical or neurological disabilities or associated behavioural issues. 

The role is Centre based, but occasional preschool, school or home visits may be necessary from time to time. 

We are a small, family-friendly private service that offers well-equipped therapy spaces within a supportive workplace environment, where you are encouraged to develop new ideas and areas of interest. PD allowance as agreed. Employment. Remuneration based on experience.

You will be working in a supportive team of other OT’s along with our allied health assistant and reception staff.

Applicants for the role should satisfy the following criteria

  • Registered Occupational Therapist (APRHA) 

  • Ability to clearly communicate with parents/caregivers as well as the clients. 

  • Demonstrated effective written communication skills. 

  • Ability to manage your own caseload of clients with supervision and mentoring as needed. 

  • Demonstrated ongoing commitment to professional development. 

  • Basic computer skills will be necessary to prepare reports. 

  • Experience in the assessment of children and adolescents with a variety of tests including Sensory Profile, Clinical observations, Vineland 3, visual perception tests and handwriting assessments.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Full Registration with AHPRA as an OT 

  • Demonstrated experience working with children, adolescents and families. 

  • Proven knowledge of NDIS and Medicare

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent report writing skills.

  • Understanding of Code of Ethics relevant to your professional

  • Understanding of legal issues relating to working with youth and families.

Other requirements:

  • Have their own public and private indemnity insurance to work in private practice.

  • NDIS worker screening or be able to obtain 

  • Current police check 

  • Full rights to work in Australia
