Job Description

About Us

Wildflower Kids Therapy is a neurodiversity-affirming paediatric practice on the Gold Coast. We work with autistic children, ADHDers, children with a PDA profile, global developmental delay, learning differences, and those with functional challenges like toileting, sleep, and self-care.

We are deeply connected to our values. Our approach is grounded in the belief that children aren’t broken or in need of fixing - they deserve to be understood, celebrated, and supported. We see each child as a whole person, not just through the lens of goals, but with their future in mind: the 20-, 30-, and 60-year-old they will one day become.

Why Wildflower?

Our name was inspired by the words of Alexander Den Heijer: “When a flower doesn’t bloom, you change the environment, not the flower.”

At Wildflower, we see children as wildflowers – unique, resilient, and beautiful in their own right. Our role is to support them by shaping environments and supports where they can flourish.

We pride ourselves on creating an environment that feels safe, supportive, and affirming — for families and therapists alike. We truly walk the talk of neurodiversity-affirming practice: respecting autonomy, fostering trust, and valuing authenticity.

Who will thrive with us?

This isn’t just a job. It’s an invitation to join a team that:

  • Believes in supporting children not just for today’s goals, but for the adults they will one day become.

  • Meets families where they are — walking alongside them with compassion and respect.

  • Welcomes every personality and neurotype, because we practice what we preach when it comes to affirming diversity.

  • Values curiosity, courage, and vulnerability. We don’t expect you to be perfect — we expect you to be willing to learn, reflect, and come back for support when you need it.

  • Offers freedom to think for yourself, without micromanagement, while always knowing you’ll be backed when challenges arise.

As an Occupational Therapist with us, you will:

  • Support a varied caseload of children with neurodevelopmental differences including Autism, PDA, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay and specific learning differences.

  • Work with families on functional goals such as toileting, feeding, self-care, and daily living skills — as well as regulation, play, and developing authentic relationships.

  • See a manageable caseload (capped at 5 clients per day) to allow for quality, not quantity.

  • Support children and families funded through the NDIS, Medicare, and private clients.

  • Use evidence-based approaches informed by lived experience and affirming practice.

  • Work collaboratively with families, educators, and other health professionals — including our onsite Speech Therapist, creating opportunities for meaningful MDT collaboration.

  • Provide therapy and advocacy in clinic, schools, kindergartens, and homes.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has confident experience (minimum 3–4 years in paediatric OT or a related field).

  • Is committed to neurodiversity-affirming practice and open to continuous growth.

  • Brings warmth, curiosity, and authenticity into their work.

  • Thrives on independence but knows the strength in coming back for support.

  • Sees the bigger picture — focusing on connection, not compliance.

What the role offers:

  • A genuinely uplifting culture that celebrates difference — for kids, families, and our team.

  • Regular supervision and peer support, tailored to your needs.

  • Generous CPD allowance and active encouragement of professional growth.

  • Tools of the trade (laptop, workstation, resources budget).

  • Administration support so you can focus on your clinical work.

  • A sustainable workload and emphasis on work-life balance and mental health.

If you’re ready to be part of a team where your voice matters, your values align, and your work makes a difference — we’d love to hear from you.
